The mantra means salutations to Lord Shiva. It expresses reverence and devotion toward Lord Shiva, who is traditionally regarded as a symbol of transformation, consciousness, and spiritual awareness.
The mantra can be chanted in the morning, during meditation, or in the evening. Mondays and Maha Shivaratri are traditionally associated with Lord Shiva worship.
Sit comfortably in a clean and peaceful place. Chant Om Namah Shivaya slowly with devotion and concentration. A Rudraksha mala may be used for counting repetitions.
The mantra may be repeated 11, 21, or 108 times according to one's personal devotional practice.
