Bhandara Seva's Details

Deity: Annapurna Mata, Lord Shiva (Shiv Ji), and Lord Vishnu (Vishnu Ji)

About the Daan: A Bhandara is the open community feast. The doors are thrown open, and everyone who comes is fed. No one is asked who they are. No one is turned away. This is annadaan at its widest and most generous, and the shastras hold its merit to be immense. In Kashi, the city of Annapurna Mata, a Bhandara carries a special grace. The feast is organised in your name and gotra, prepared sattvik, and served to all who come. Muhurat is taken fresh from the Panchang. Book Bhandara Seva with us, and we handle the full vidhi.

Kanya Pashupata Homam

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

"Kanya Pashupata Homam is performed for unmarried young women (kanyas) seeking the blessing of marriage and a loving life partner. The puja invokes Shiva in his form as Pashupati, the lord of all beings. In Hindu tradition, Shiva is the ideal husband. He is the husband of Parvati Mata, whose own penance to win him is one of the most beloved stories in scripture. Unmarried young women have, for centuries, prayed to Shiva for a partner blessed with the qualities they seek."

Shree Krishna Janmashtami Maha Puja

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

"Janmashtami is the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. The night Vishnu took human form to end the rule of the tyrant Kansa. Tradition holds that Krishna was born in a prison cell in Mathura to Devaki and Vasudev, on the eighth lunar day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. The chains fell open. The doors opened by themselves. Vasudev carried the infant across the flooded Yamuna to safety. The whole cosmos held its breath for this child's arrival. Devotees stay awake through the night, chanting his name, until the moment of his birth at midnight."

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

"Annaprashan is the child's first taste of solid food. It is one of the sixteen sacred sanskars of Hindu life. Until now the child has lived on its mother's milk. This rite marks the first bite of grain. It is done around the sixth month for a boy. For a girl it is done in the fifth or seventh month. The first food is often kheer, sweet and soft. The rite seeks the grace of Annapurna, the goddess of food. It prays that the child never goes hungry in life. The worship begins with Ganpati to clear all blocks. "Annapurna is the Mother who feeds the whole world. Her name means the one who is full of food and plenty. She is a form of Mata Parvati and the queen of Kashi.
